The Tours
This fully-narrated driving tour is designed for those who are interested in learning more about the styles of architecture that give Boston it's distinctive personality: from the Federalist architecture of Beacon Hill to the Victorian townhomes of Back Bay and the South End, to the triple-deckers of Dorchester and Jamaica Plain. The tour will feature the work of noted architects Charles Bullfinch, H.H. Richardson and I.M. Pei, and will also address related issues to urban planning.
This tour will begin at your hotel or transport terminal and take you through various neighborhoods including the North End, the West End, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Copley Square, the South End, Jamaica Plain and parts of Mission Hill and the Fenway where you can see how the various styles of Boston's architecture reflect changing notions of taste and practicality. You'll see how green space and mass transit can alter a neighborhood's character and way of life. Time and schedule permitting, you'll be able to tour one or more historic buildings in Boston and see the impact that fine design can make.
